Woman in custody after man shot, killed in Lackawanna

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman was taken into custody Friday afternoon after a man was shot and killed in Jacksonville’s Lackawanna neighborhood.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. on Spring Street.

When JSO arrived at the scene, a man between the ages of 20 and 40 was found outside of a home with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

A woman, who JSO said is older than 40, was taken into custody and is considered a suspect. Neighbors said the woman is disabled.

JSO said the shooting may have stemmed from an argument that happened Thursday, but investigators don’t know how the argument started. A JSO investigator said they believe the victim and the suspect knew each other.

It’s unclear what charges the woman will face.

JSO said there are no outstanding suspects.

A few miles away, a man was injured in a hail of gunfire near West 5th Street and North Myrtle Avenue.

JSO said 25 shots were fired around 5 p.m. and the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call JSO or Crime Stoppers.
