Jacksonville officer taken to hospital after crash in marked cruiser

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville police officer spent Thanksgiving morning in the hospital after a crash involving a marked police cruiser and a pickup truck.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the officer was on-duty and his cruiser had its lights and sirens going when the crash occurred around 8:40 a.m. at the intersection of Old St. Augustine and Hartley roads.

The officer had been headed south on Old St. Augustine to assist Jacksonville firefighters on a call.

JSO said the officer was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries.
