Positively Jax: Local bus company helping kids step into holidays in style, comfort

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The owners of Randall Bus Service plan to help students start the holiday season off on the right foot.

They’ve been in business for nearly eight decades and have spent 60 of those years working for Duval County Public Schools.

“I am right now the only African American school bus company in Duval County or the district,” said Sherman Randall, the owner and CEO of Randall Bus Service. “We serve southern Georgia and northern Florida.”

With its unique history and dedication to the community, the bus service’s impact will go beyond getting students to and from schools by hosting its first shoe collection.

They said they’ve seen first hand that need for children to have reliable shoes isn’t just at the start of a new school year.

“Looking at the children going to school, there are so many children that do not have proper shoes to wear. They’re torn. They’re talking to us as our parents would say, they’re flapping. And we wanted to give back to the community as the community gives back to us,” said Angela Randall, the other owner and vice president.

The shoe collection is happening now until Dec. 11.

They’re accepting all sizes of shoes for elementary through high school students.

You can drop them off at:

  • Randall Bus Services: 5854 W 5th St., Jacksonville, FL 32254
  • Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church: 2407 Rev S L Badger Jr Creek E, Jacksonville, FL 32209
  • Peace Missionary Baptist Church: 1759 Rowe Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32208

The shoe giveaway will be on Dec. 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Peace Missionary Baptist Church.
