Jacksonville, Fla. – A man died Saturday night after he went into a pond on private property on Jacksonville’s Westside to swim and apparently drowned, police said.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue were called to Pickettville Road just after 7 p.m. Saturday.

JSO said officers and paramedics found an unresponsive man, who was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Police said family and friends found the man unresponsive after he went into the pond to swim, and someone called 911. No foul play is suspected at this time, according to police.
Detectives are investigating along with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the man’s exact cause and manner of death, JSO said.
Several people were around when it happened, and they are cooperating with investigators, police said.
