JSO: 1 dead, 1 in critical condition after stabbing in Longbranch neighborhood

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One man was killed and another was critically wounded when they were stabbed several times in the Longbranch neighborhood late Tuesday night, police said.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the men were roommates and the stabbing happened a little before midnight at a house on Bridier Street.

Police said the man who survived walked from there and went a block over to Plateau Street, where he knocked on doors asking for help. Someone called 911 for him and when police arrived they found the man, who is in his 40s, with multiple stab wounds.

He was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition, according to JSO.

When first responders got there, the man was able to tell police he was stabbed at the house on Bridier Street before he was taken to a hospital.

When police got to that house, they found another man dead inside who had also been stabbed several times.

The Sheriff’s Office’s Homicide team reviewed evidence at the scene, and Wednesday evening, police announced that Tonie Lavon Bryant, 29, was identified as a suspect. He was arrested on charges of murder and attempted murder.
