Infant, child inside home during drive-by shooting that left 2 men injured: JSO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two children, including an infant, were inside a home that was targeted in a drive-by shooting early Thursday morning that left two men wounded, police said.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, just after 1:15 a.m., officers responded to W. 60th Street in the North Shore area to a report that two people had been shot.

They found the two men with gunshot wounds to their “lower extremities.” One was treated at the scene by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue paramedics, and the other was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

At least 20 evidence markers could be seen in the street outside the home. Police said other people besides the two men were in the home, including the two children.

The shooters fled the area in a dark blue SUV, police said.

Detectives were on the scene canvassing for witnesses, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 or via email at JSOCRIMETIPS@JAXSHERIFF.ORG or call the CrimeStoppers Hotline at 1-866-845-TIPS.
