JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Eric Fuller, who shot and killed a life-long friend in a car last year, was sentenced Monday to 40 years in prison.

Fuller, 23, was convicted of second-degree murder last month in the shooting dead of Carlton Derrick Hardaman, whose body was found beside West 19th Street in February 2013.

At Monday's sentencing hearing, Fuller was given 40 years in prison, with a 25-year minimum mandatory.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer investigation revealed that Fuller and Hardaman, who had grown up together as friends, were driving in a car when Fuller shot the Hardaman in the head and dumped his body on the side of the road.  Fuller then drove away from the area.

Assistant State Attorneys Peter Overstreet and John Cannizzaro prosecuted this case.
