3 indicted in Clay County detective's killing

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. – A Clay County grand jury has indicted three people in the death of Clay County Sheriff's Detective David White.

Chasity Prescott, Ryan Wilder and Jennifer Alder were indicted Wednesday morning on multiple felony counts. They were:

  • One count of felony murder in the first degree (White's death)
  • Three counts of attempted second-degree murder (other Clay County Sheriff's detectives on scene)
  • One count of second-degree felony murder (suspect Ted Tilley's death)
  • One count of trafficking in methamphetamine while armed

Wilder and Prescott were also indicted on a possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charge. Prescott was indicted on an eighth count of armed burglary for inhabiting the property illegally, prosecutors said.

County Sheriff's Office Detective David White was shot and killed by an armed suspect at a home on Alligator Boulevard in Middleburg, Fla., about 6:25 p.m. Thursday.

Jerry Daniels, 16, is also charged in connection with White's death. He faces charges of third-degree murder and possession with intent to sell, deliver, manufacture and purchase controlled substances.

White was shot and killed Feb. 16 during an investigation of a methamphetamine lab at a Clay County home. Detective Matthew Hanlin was also shot. He is recovering from his injuries.

Other officers on scene were shot at but were not hurt.
