Bomb-making suspect arrested after barricading self in home

Police: Man didn't show up for court date

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A 56-year-old man being sought by U.S. marshals was arrested after he barricaded himself inside a home on the Westside on Friday afternoon.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office SWAT team was called to the standoff in the 5400 block of Waterside Drive off Lake Shore Boulevard just after 4 p.m.

U.S. marshals were serving an arrest warrant at the home of Douglas Chambers Jr. after he didn't show up for a court date, police said.

Investigators said Chambers ran into the home when marshals arrived.

Police said they took precautionary measures because the man was being sought on a warrant in connection with carrying concealed weapons without a permit and bomb making.

No one was allowed into the area until the suspect was arrested.

Police did not say what charges Chambers' faced, but said said the investigation that led to his arrest is ongoing.
