Committee: Global Specrum should manage city venues

Headline Goes Here Jacksonville Jaguars

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The city of Jacksonville's Professional Services Evaluation Committee votes 3-0 on Wednesday to deny SMG's protest and recommend city's seven entertainment facilities be managed by Global Spectrum.

Among the facilities are EverBank Field, Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville and the Prime Osborn Convention Center.

That recommendation will now go to the mayor's office, which will negotiate with Global Spectrum and talk with the Jaguars about operations for EverBank Field.

The Jaguars have said they want SMG to keep managing EverBank.  Under the terms of the lease, the city and the Jaguars have to be in agreement as to who manages the football stadium.

Global Spectrum has said it will invest $1.5 million in capital investment, which could lead to a new scoreboard at EverBank Field.

SMG has managed Jacksonville's facilities for 20 years.
