LAKE CITY, Fla. - Police say a woman who was shot Saturday while walking on Marion Avenue in Lake City has died.

The Lake City Police Department said Misty Dawn Harper succumbed to her injuries received from the gunshot Sunday morning at 2 am. Harper was being treated at Shands University Hospital when she passed away, said police.

Police said Harper was taken to the Medical Examiner's office in Jacksonville to determine the cause of death.

At this time, police said the investigation is ongoing. The Lake City Police Department Criminal Investigation Division said they continue to follow up on strong active leads in the case.
