Dinsmore church left with expensive clean-up after driver plows through sanctuary

Congregation remains strong despite ordeal

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sunday morning a driver plowed through the back wall of the Victory Holiness Church in Dinsmore, leaving a mess and a very expensive problem.

"I think this whole back wall is going to have to be replaced and it knocked off the foundation right there. So it's in pretty bad shape," said Pastor Tommy Jones.

But the congregation is stronger than the building, holding together even in tough times. Their Tuesday night service was the first since the crash and members were there to show their faith.

"It's not about the building, it's about the Lord because sometimes worshiping the Lord, it doesn't matter where you are at," Marissa Jones said.

Pastor Jones says he has no idea how much repairs will cost. However, the building he says, is safe enough for worship.

"We're faithful to our church and these people want to come. So we wasn't going to let the devil keep us out of here," said Pastor Jones.

They say they will focus and rejoice on the things that matter in life, and let the Lord take care of the rest.
