Family still desperate to find missing woman's body

Search last week for Rebecca Ware's remains yielded no results

Headline Goes Here

PALATKA, Fla. - The family of a missing St. Augustine woman is desperate to find her body, nearly two years since she was last seen leaving work.

Last week, investigators acted on a tip and searched a wooded area near Beech Street in Palatka for the remains of Rebecca Ware.

They didn't find any evidence Ware was there.

The 34-year-old was last scene leaving her work at Hydro Aluminum North America in St. Augustine Shores on Oct. 29, 2010. Her car was found in a Publix parking lot in St. Augustine.

In August, Ware's boyfriend, 42-year-old Timothy Johnson (pictured right), was charged with second-degree murder in her death, despite no body being recovered.

Theresa Nolan, Ware's aunt, spoke Tuesday about another heartbreaking search that yielded no results.

"It is devastating, but also just for them to be out there and still looking still gives us a lot of hope," Nolan said.

Three searches with no success means three painful letdowns for Ware's family.

"I want to know where she is. I really want to know where she is," Nolan said. "I honestly didn't think we'd be at the two-year mark. I thought everything would be wrapped up within a year, but it happens, and we're going to celebrate her life next weekend. We're going to have a celebration of her life."

Nolan said she's very pleased with the work the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office has done.

"They're very supportive. They've been great as far as supporting the Sheriff's Office and the efforts we've tried to put forward in this case," Detective Eugene Tolbert said of Ware's family. "They're very appreciative of us continuing to try and find Rebecca for them. Obviously, we've already made an arrest in this case, but finding her body would just bring this case home."

Investigators at this point are continuing to search for leads.

They say they will not search that area in Putnam County again until they're given a credible reason to.
