JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man is in serious condition at UF Health Jacksonville after a hit and run accident near Beach Boulevard and Carmichael just before 3 a.m. Saturday, according to Florida Highway Patrol troopers.

Troopers say 30-year-old Craig Andrews was driving a go cart without lights  in the westbound inside traffic lane of Beach Boulevard.

Troopers say the driver of what they believe is a pickup truck or SUV was approaching Carmichael and used brakes, but ended up hitting the go cart.

According to the FHP report, the driver of that vehicle left the area, but vehicle parts were left in the area of the crash.

Troopers believe an SUV or pick-up truck has undercarriage damage and headlight damage, but it is not known which headlight could be damaged.

Anyone with information on the crash can call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
