GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. - Police in Green Cove Springs are trying to identify a man they said robbed a convenience store Thursday night.

They said the man went into Hilltop Food Mart at 1604 Idlewild Ave. about 8:45 p.m. as the store was preparing to close and pulled out a handgun.

The man approached the clerks behind the store counter and demanded money from the cash registers, police said.

They said the man was completely covered, with no skin showing. He was dressed in black, but the facemask appears to be blue. He was wearing silver or gray colored gloves and black shoes or boots. He was also wearing a black knit cap or toboggan.

The handgun appears to have a chrome or silver slide.

The male is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 180 pounds, police said.

He told the clerks to empty the cash from the registers into a bag, which he then took from them and left the scene on foot, police said. They said the man obtained about $600 from the store.

Anyone with any information about the man's identity is asked to call the Green Cove Springs Police Department at 904-297-7300.
