Information sought in pedestrian hit-and-run

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Police in Jacksonville are asking seeking information in the hit-and-run of a pedestrian earlier this month.

Police said Rebecca Mallott was struck by a vehicle about 9 p.m. April 3 at the intersection of West Fifth and Detroit streets. The driver failed to remain at the scene.

A police officer was notified by a resident about a person in the roadway. After notifying the officer, the resident left the area, police said.

Detectives are investigating the crash and would like to speak with the resident and any other person who may have information about the hit-and-run.

The person who spoke with the officer is described as a black woman driving an older model blue Honda car.

Mallott is currently in serious condition.
