JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville runner who unknowingly snapped a photo of one of the Boston bombing terror suspects is talking about Saturday's arrest of 19-year-old Dzhokar Tsarnaev.
David Green said he's proud that his photo aided investigators with the FBI in bringing the suspect to justice.
"For me to have luckily, spontaneously taken a photograph that may have helped has meant a lot to me," said Green.
Green said Saturday he is thankful that he was in the right place at the right time to aid the FBI in identifying the Russian Brothers accused in the Boston Marathon bombing. He said federal agents digitally enhanced the one photo he quickly snapped at the finish line.
The photo captured one of the suspects leaving the area, just seconds after the first bomb exploded.
"Everyone was concerned for our safety. I went to Facebook, and remembered, I had one picture, and I could give everyone in Jacksonville an idea about what's going on," said Green.
Green said the FBI agents he spoke to on the phone assured him he had a photograph important to the investigation. Looking back, Green said it's still surreal to think, that he may have helped to bring the suspects to justice.
"I'm really happy they were caught, amazed that it was a 19-year-old boy. I have a 19-year-old son," said Green.
Green said ironically he was in New York on September 11th, so he's experienced a similar emergency situation before, which is why Green said he reacted by grabbing his phone, rather than running away.
"So that big world stage tragedy, maybe had something to do with the fact that when this went off," said Green. "I didn't run away."
