JSO: Teen stole woman's car at gas station, led police on high-speed chase

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 17-year-old Jacksonville boy has been charged as an adult after police said he stole a woman's car during the state of emergency for Hurricane Irma and led police on a high-speed chase.

Johnny White Jr. pleaded not guilty Wednesday to grand theft during a state of emergency, burglary during a state of emergency, fleeing law enforcement at high speeds and resisting an officer without violence.

According to the police report, a woman left her car running while gas was pumping into the car and went into the store at a gas station. 

While she was gone, White got into her car and took off, police said.

Police said they chased White, who was eventually caught.

His next pretrial hearing will be Oct. 31.
