Burn ban expansion in Duval County lifted

Bonfires, campfires, ceremonial fires no longer restricted

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The burn ban expansion restricting bonfires, campfires and ceremonial fires in Duval County has been lifted, city officials announced Thursday.

The ban, which expanded on the county's year-round burn ban, was enacted May 11 as smoke filtering down from the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge caused health concerns throughout Northeast Florida.
