Crews battle 2-acre wildfire off Yellow Bluff Road

No homes threatened by blaze, fire chief says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida Forest Service and Jacksonville Fire Rescue crews were called Monday night to battle a 2-acre wildfire off Yellow Bluff Road on the Northside, forestry officials said. 

The blaze erupted about 9:20 p.m. on Wild Hammock Trail in the Eagles Hammock neighborhood, according to Fire Rescue. Two forestry bulldozers responded to the fire.

The fire chief on scene told News4Jax that the blaze was nearly out by 11 p.m., but they were going to set plow lines to make sure it's contained. 

No homes were threatened by the woods fire, the chief said.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.Â
