Driver dies after car collides with tree

FHP: Passenger had minor injuries after the crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man died after his car left San Jose Boulevard at the entrance ramp to Interstate 295 and struck a tree about midnight Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say 26-year-old Philmore Dillon Jr. was driving north on San Jose when the Honda Civic left the road.  Dillon was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he was pronounced dead.

A passenger in the car, 23-year-old Timothy Nou, was taken to Baptist South with minor injuries.

Troopers say both were wearing seat belts, but the circumstance of the accident remain under investigation.
