Aubrey has spent months in an Atlanta hospital recovering.

On Thursday, the 16-year-old's father, Jim Thompson, told Channel 4 Aubrey's condition is improving.

Jim said Aubrey has gained 40 pounds since being home from the hospital in Atlanta and that the teen is going to occupational, speech and physical therapy every week.

"Just to have him home so that he can sleep in his own bed. My wife is talking about wanting to cook a meal for him. Just everyday routine life is what we are looking forward to," Jim told Channel 4 in March when Aubrey returned home to Fruit Cove.
