JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – More than 20 historical buildings in Jacksonville are in danger of demolition if renovations are not made to them soon, according to a report from WJCT News.
The buildings are on the Jacksonville Historical Society's 2017 list of most endangered buildings.
Wayne Wood, of the historical society, told WJCT that there has to be a use for the endangered building for preservation efforts to make sense.
He said that he hopes when people see the list, they will be inspired to preserve the buildings, which he said are important to Jacksonville's history.
The Laura Street Trio, at the corner of West Forsyth and Laura streets, is among the endangered buildings set for renovations. The plans call for the Bisbee and Florida Life buildings to become a Courtyard Marriott hotel and the marble Florida National Bank Building to become the Bullbriar restaurant, WJCT reports.
