Man shot while driving on Stockton Street, police say

Police find car with blood after man taken to hospital

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was shot multiple times Tuesday night while driving on Stockton Street near Edison Avenue, just north of the Riverside neighborhood, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

Police said that about 9:45 p.m., a JSO sergeant came across a vehicle with blood inside that had crashed into a guardrail in an underpass, where the southbound lanes of Stockton Street intersect with Interstate 10.

Police later learned a man had suffered several non-life-threatening gunshot wounds while driving southbound on Stockton Street and was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center.

Police said an unknown suspect or suspects fired the shots and then fled in an unknown direction.
