Jaguars launch first Stand United Friday

Friendship Fountain to turn teal

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The first Stand United Friday, a new Jacksonville Jaguars fan initiative, launches with Friendship Fountain turning teal, a bar rally and new Jaguars merchandise on sale at EverBank Field.

"Stand United Fridays is an initiative to engage and to give fans and businesses and schools and the military the opportunity to celebrate each week with the team," said Jaguars President Mark Lamping.

Friendship Fountain on Jacksonville's Southbank will turn teal each Friday of the 2013-2014 season.

Fans are encouraged to head to EverBank Field's East Touchdown Club on Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.  They can purchase new Jaguars merchandise, including limited edition Jags Kickoff t-shirts for $10.

Fans are encouraged to rally together Friday for the Stand United Bar Rally.  It will be held at Whisky River at the St. Johns Town Center from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  There will be performances by the ROAR and D-Line, free tickets and merchandise from the Jax Pack and other giveaways such as koozies, schedule cards and coasters.

This is the first in a series of region-wide bar appearances and promotions in 130 bars around Jacksonville and surrounding areas.  Twenty bars will host Stand United Friday rallies throughout the 2013 season.  A competition will be held to identify the bar that best shows its Stand United spirit.

A monthly Stand United competition invites local businesses and schools to show how they are supporting the Jaguars on Fridays.  They can submit photos of how their business/school looks on Stand United Fridays.  Entries will be posted on the Jaguars Facebook page and fans will vote for the best.  Entries with the most votes each month, September through December, will win tickets for their business (up to 40) and classroom (up to 40) for a Jaguars home game.  Photos should be submitted here.

"I am 100% behind the Jags.  You'll see me at the games this year, you'll see me out asking people to buy tickets and come enjoy the excitement.  It's going to be a great year and I can feel it in my heart.  I know our players are going to play hard and we're going to stand united.  Together we can win," said Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown.
