JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville Sheriff's Office cruiser was involved in a crash early Monday morning on Merrill Road near Interstate 295.
The police officer was responding with another officer about 12:30 a.m. to a battery call, according to investigators.

"The officer was in the center lane, about to turn into an apartment complex," said Detective B. M. Blaquiere. "He realized he needed to be on the other side of the road. As he was attempting to make a right turn into the apartment complex from the center lane, he clipped the left side -- the driver's side -- of the vehicle that was traveling westbound with his right front of his police car."
Blaquiere said the car that was struck had two people inside and pulled into a neighborhood.
"The driver complained of some injuries. They're not serious at all," Blaquiere said. "The passenger did not complain of any injuries to us."
The driver was taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police said the officer involved in the crash was not hurt.
Police said they are going to pull the tapes from the officer calling the crash in for more details as to whether the officer had his emergency lights on or his turning signal.
"We're still investigating to see exactly," Blaquiere said. "There's some reports of he may or may not have had them on. Either way, he was making a turn and hit the car."
