Evan Feda is facing murder charges after police say he stabbed a man in a Riverside park on Friday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 41-year-old man charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of a 74-year-old in a Riverside park last month has been ruled not competent for prosecution.

Police said Evan Freda attacked Ashley Kraan without warning Nov. 3 in the Willowbranch Park on Park Street, near the Willowbranch Library. Kraan was walking his dog.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said. 

reda, who has a history of mental health issues, will be held in the state hospital until he undergoes a six-month competency review on June 7.

Officials said they believe Freda was homeless.
