Northside SWAT standoff ends peacefully

Suspect fired shots into ceiling after argument with girlfriend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A SWAT standoff on the Northside ended peacefully Wednesday morning after the suspect was Baker Acted, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The situation happened around 3 a.m Wednesday morning at a home in Black Hammock Island in the 15000 block of Shellcracker Road.

According to JSO, an argument between the suspect and his girlfriend led to him firing shots into the ceiling.

The girlfriend escaped and called police from a different location.

The boyfriend fell asleep inside the home and when SWAT arrived, he was Baker Acted, according to JSO.

The whole situation lasted about an hour and a half.
