JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A jury has voted 10-2 to send a 50-year-old Jacksonville man to death row for the murder of a 51-year-old woman.

Dennis Glover was convicted last week on one count of first-degree murder in the killing of Sandra Allen.

In May 2012, Glover told his girlfriend that he heard screams coming from Allen's home, which was two doors down, and thought he should go check on her.

When police arrived, officers discovered Allen had been strangled and stabbed to death. Police later matched blood found on Glover's shoes to Allen.

Glover's DNA was also on Allen in multiple locations.

While the jury has recommended death, the final sentencing decision will be made by Judge Mallory Cooper. The next court date in the penalty phase is set for Feb. 10.
