JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A wanted sex offender from Kansas who barricaded himself in a Westside home for several hours Wednesday afternoon before he was arrested had 10 weapons in the house.

U.S. marshals said they got a tip that Daniel Manning was at the home in the 8000 block of Boonesborough Trail, north of Collins Road.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office SWAT team was called to the scene about 3 p.m., but Manning surrendered before they arrived.

Police cut off the power to the house hours before. Investigators said Manning was hiding in the attic above the garage and came out because of the heat.

Manning was taken to a hospital after complaining of chest pains.

Investigators said they had information that there were guns in the home, although Manning never threatened police with a weapon.  Once inside, investigators found six rifles, three shotguns, two handguns and various ammunition.  When questioned, Manning admitted owning the weapons, adding that he brought them with him from Kansas.

Investigators said Manning skipped out on bond in Kansas, where he was awaiting prosecution on child sex charges.

Neighbors said marshals also interviewed another woman who lived in the home where he was found, but it's unclear her relationship to him.
