ORANGE PARK, Fla. - Clay Humane, a nonprofit animal clinic in Orange Park, is looking for answers and help caring for a kitten after it arrived at the facility missing a paw.

The kitten affectionately named Peggy was brought into Clay Humane with a group of stray cats from the area, so no one knows for sure how the kitten who is only a few weeks old lost its paw.

"It is lucky the tiny kitten made her way to our low-cost veterinary clinic as quickly as she did," said Clay Humane veterinarian Dr. Christian Broadhurst. "The spread of infection in the open wound would have certainly cost little Peggy her life."

Peggy game to Clay Humane through the organization's free cat spay and neuter program. Veterinarians with Clay Humane believe Peggy is only 4 or 5 weeks old.

Clay Humane is asking for the public's help in caring for Peggy. To donate to Peggy's fund, click here or call Clay Humane at 904-276-7729.
