COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. - A Columbia County man was arrested Tuesday after threatening to run deputies over, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to the Players Club on U.S. 90 West at about 7 p.m. to assist an investigator with the Florida Department of Children and Families. The DCF investigator had a court order to take custody of a boy.

Deputies learned that the child, mother and father were sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot. Deputies assisted the DCF investigator in explaining the court order.

The suspect, 34-year-old Shiloh Champion, was holding the boy and handed him over to the mother instead of the DCF investigator, deputies said. They asked Champion for his identification as he sat in the driver's seat of the car. Champion told deputies that he did not have any ID with him and provided them a name that was known to be false, deputies said.

Deputies asked Champion to get out of the car. They said he initially opened the driver's door and appeared as though he was going to get out. Instead, Champion slammed the driver's door shut and placed the car in reverse, deputies said.

A deputy Paul Hebb tried to stop Champion from leaving the scene, but Champion accelerated in reverse and struck the DCF investigator's vehicle, deputies said. The collision caused the DCF investigator to be struck by her vehicle, causing minor injury.

Champion ignored deputies' orders to stop, turned the wheels of the vehicle toward them and tried to place the vehicle in a forward gear, deputies said. While Champion struggled to place the vehicle in gear, a deputy stunned him with an electronic control device.

Deputies were able to get Champion out of the car, but he continued to resist arrest and struggled with themon the ground, deputies said. They were finally able to gain control of him.

Champion was booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility on multiple charges, including two warrants from Alabama.
