JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - It took a jury 15 minutes Wednesday to convict a 36-year-old Jacksonville man of sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl.

Lonnie Holmes was arrested in June 2011 on two counts of sexual battery.

Prosecutors said that between June 2010 and April 2011, the girl was forced to perform sex acts on Holmes numerous times.

"The jury has vindicated this brave little girl after coming forward, and she will never suffer at his hands again," said Assistant State Attorney Anna Hixon.

Assistant State Attorney Sandra Rosendale also tried the case.

Holmes faces mandatory life in prison. He will be sentenced Sept. 25.
