Man shot in Palatka in stable condition

Police investigating incident; suspect arrested

PALATKA, Fla. - The Palatka Police Department is investigating a shooting incident on North 8th Street in Palatka on Thursday night.

The victim, who had what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his back, was identified as 35-year-old Tavarence Clark, of Palatka. Clark was transported to Putnam Community Hospital and was in stable condition Friday.

The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. Thursday. Officers responded to a report of gun shots fired and found Clark in the yard of a residence at 511 North 8th Street. Officers were directed to a house across the street and found a suspect, Nathaniel McDuffy, at 512 North 8th Street. Witnesses identified McDuffy as the man who shot Clark, and a handgun was found at the scene, police said.

McDuffy was arrested on charges of attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and was booked into the Putnam County Jail without bond.
