JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - One of Mayor Alvin Brown's security detail drivers was driving an unmarked Jacksonville Sheriff's Office SUV that ran a red light Monday morning and hit a car, sending three people to a hospital, according to the mayor's office and JSO. The mayor was not in the SUV.

Police said Officer Sharmonique McDaniels was driving the SUV and struck the car on Main Street between State and Beaver streets about 8 a.m.

Three people in the car were taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center as a precautionary measure.

McDaniels was not hurt.

Main Street between State and Beaver streets was closed for about two hours while police investigated, but has since reopened.
