Medical emergency may have led to crash

According to the FHP, a 51-year-old woman was driving on Southbrook Drive at the Southside Boulevard Service Road Dec. 12, 2012, when she struck a pickup truck. She survived. The other driver was not injured.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla - A Jacksonville woman is in critical condition following a car crash on the Southside, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the FHP report, Yvette Haynes, 51, was driving a gold Pontiac eastbound on Southbrook Drive when she struck a black Nissan truck driven by Brian Sweezy, 26, while he was sitting at the intersection of Southbrook and the Southside Service Road.

The report said the Pontiac veered to the right and onto the right shoulder, colliding with the right side of the truck. After the impact of the vehicles, the Pontiac traveled east across Southside Blvd and onto the east shoulder, colliding with the tree line.

According to medical personnel, Haynes suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.  She was transported to St. Vincents South Hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.

Sweezy was not hurt.

Troopers say oth drivers were wearing seat belts.
