JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The testimony of the medical examiner in the case of a Jacksonville Beach man accused of killing another man in 2011 was video recorded Thursday in advance of the trial.
Charles Pearce is charged with murder in the shooting death of Mike McCue (pictured below) and attempted murder of his father-in-law in Jacksonville Beach.

McCue was hit by a stray slug fired during the confrontation between Pearce and his father-in-law, police said.
He was initially ruled not competent for prosecution, but after two years of treatment in a mental health facility, he was declared competent last year.
The defense is still pleading insanity.
The medical examiner's testimony was given Thursday because he will not be in town for the trial, which is scheduled to begin April 28.
