GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. – News4Jax has learned that the man who led police to human remains buried in a Clay County backyard committed several violations before a warrant was issued for his arrest in November on probation violation charges.

Brian Adams was arrested in North Carolina on those charges this week, and investigators said that he told police he had buried his mother, Janell Adams, in the backyard of a home on Creekfront Drive in the Silver Creek subdivision in Lake Asbury.

Detectives with the Clay County Sheriff's Office found human remains there Wednesday, but they have not confirmed that they are those of Janell Adams.

The remains were taken to the medical examiner in Jacksonville for analysis.

Brian Adams (pictured) was originally arrested in January 2014 after a traffic stop in Macclenny, where he was charged with possession of methamphetamine and controlled substances without a prescription. He pleaded guilty to lesser charges in July 2014 and was placed on probation for 18 months. The violations started a month later.

In August 2014, Adams was cited for attaching an unassigned license plate in Duval County.

He was cited for the same thing in September 2014, as well.

His last contact with the probation office was Oct. 1, 2014, and a warrant was issued on Nov. 17.

Two days ago, Adams was arrested on that warrant in North Carolina and investigators said that's when he told them about the body in the backyard.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office said that despite Adams being in custody, he has not been charged with any crimes in Clay County and there are no warrants for his arrest. Adams is fighting extradition, so the Baker County Sheriff's Office is trying to get a governor's order to have him transported back to Florida.Â
