JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - An officer fired shots and missed a home invasion robbery suspect after pursuing him in Northwest Jacksonville late Tuesday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Investigators were called to the 1600 block of West 17th Street just after 5 p.m.

The suspect was taken into custody, and police said they were not looking for anyone else.

It's unclear if the suspect had a weapon. No one was hurt in the incident.

Police said the suspect had been spotted by officers, got into a car and tried to drive away. Officers chased the man, who they said got out of the car and started running.

Police said officers warned him several times to stop running. They said he continued onto the roof of a home, and that's when the officer fired.

The man climbed over the other side of the roof, where officers were waiting for him, police said.

Investigators were expected to provide more details Wednesday.
