Woman, 61, seriously injured

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A 61-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a car while crossing 103rd Street on Sunday afternoon.

A woman who failed to use a crosswalk was struck by a car Sunday on westbound State Road 134 and 103rd Street.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Cathy Okline was not using a crosswalk when she ran across 103rd Street just west of Wesconnett Drive about 1:23 p.m. Troopers said she was hit by a Crown Victoria driven by  83-year-old Raymond Vearil.

Okline was transported to UF Health in Jacksonville in serious condition.

Vearil and his passenger were not injured.
