JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Police are investigating after a 52-year-old Northwest Jacksonville man was shot and killed by a masked gunman Friday night at an Arlington apartment complex.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Russell Wright was shot about 8 p.m. at the Monterey Arms Apartments on Playa Way, off of University Boulevard North. 

Police said witnesses saw the victim shot by a man wearing a dark mask or having something covering his face.  While witnesses couldn't provide an age or facial description, the gunman was described as black, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and average weight. He may have fled the scene in a white vehicle, possibly a truck or SUV.
