Police: Eastside Jacksonville homicide was a drive-by shooting

Man shot, killed Friday morning on Buckman Street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police say a 25-year-old man was shot and killed Friday morning on Jacksonville's Eastside in what homicide detectives believe was a drive-by shooting.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says officers dispatched to a report of shots fired near the intersection of Buckman and 26th streets at 8:48 a.m. found the victim's body in the street.   On Sunday evening, police identified the victim as Richard Michael Key.

"We have a couple of people who heard the shots, but no eyewitnesses at this point," JSO Sgt. Dan Janson said.

A white car, possibly with a spoiler on the trunk, was reported leaving the area at a high rate of speed after the shooting.

Police say they were just beginning to canvas the neighborhood hoping to find more witnesses and information.
