Police ID man killed on Jacksonville's Westside

Rescuers find shooting victim unresponsive on West 19th Street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office say the 22-year-old man who died on West 19th Street on Friday night was about a half mile from his home.

Responding to a 911 call about shots fired at 9:30 p.m., Jacksonville Fire-Rescue  found a Carlton Derrick Hardaman shot and lying on the side of the road in 1500 block of West 19th Street.

The victim, who lived on Pullman Avenue, could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors told police they heard two gunshots in the area.

Detectives did not have any suspects, but said it was still early in the investigation.
