JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A 30-year-old man was arrested after a fatal shooting of another man Thursday night on the lawn of a Westside home. Police believe shooting occurred during an argument over a woman.

A Jacksonville Sheriff's Office homicide unit responding to a call at 1928 Romford Court near Normandy Boulevard around 11 p.m. found the body of 34-year-old Edward Gonzalez. Officers said he was shot several times while his wife and children were inside the home.

"We've learned at this point is, there was some time of argument between the victim and the suspect, who came over to the house armed. They got into a confrontation. The suspect pulled the gun and shot the victim several times," said Sgt. Shawn Coarsey.

Witnesses told police that after shooting the victim, Jason Franklin (pictured in booking photo, right) calmly got into a Dodge Durango and drove away.

Police said after the shooting, Franklin told his wife or girlfriend that he had shot and killed someone. Police said it was that woman who reported the shooting to authorities.

"We believe it's going to be over some type of affair -- marital affair -- but we haven't gotten to that yet," said Sgt. Coarsey.

Police announced Friday morning that Franklin was booked into the Duval County jail charged with murder.
