JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A 44-year-old Jacksonville woman was arrested Thursday night after police said she tried to cheat Walmart out of more than $350 in a self-checkout line.

Police said Laura Ross selected multiple items from the store in the 13200 block of City Station Drive on the Northside and placed them in her cart.

She then approached the self-checkout line and began scanning items. Ross scanned 17 items and paid $40.76, but she failed to scan 47 additional items for a total of $354.05, police said.

Officers said Ross tried to leave the store when she was stopped.

She told police she thought she paid for everything and did not realize she was leaving the store with an extra $354.05 in merchandise.

Ross was charged with grand theft and booked into the Duval County jail.
