Robbery suspect killed at Central Florida ATM

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. - The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is investigating an attempted armed robbery and shooting that occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Friday.

Deputies said the shooting happened at the Fairwinds Credit Union located at 134 Fernwood Blvd. in Fern Park.

Deputies said at approximately 10:20 p.m., they received a report that a man using the ATM in his vehicle, in the drive-thru lane, was approached by two men who were armed with knives. 

During the attempted robbery, the victim, who was armed with a handgun, shot one of the suspects, deputies said.  

Deputies said the suspect was transported to Florida Hospital at Altamonte where he was pronounced deceased.  His name is not being released pending next of kin notifications.

The attempted robbery victim was not injured, deputies said.

The second suspect fled the area on foot.  A detailed subject description is not available at this time, deputies said.
