JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says a person was shot and the shooter is still on the loose. Police tell Channel 4 it happened around 1 in the afternoon Sunday on Woodcrest Road.

Police tell us the victim managed to go to the hospital before they arrived.
We're told that person has non-life-threatening injuries.
Neighbors say they are used to hearing gunfire.

"I was getting clothes off the clothesline and I heard a bunch of shots like eight shots," said Fred Nigro.

Nigro didn't think much of it. He and other neighbors tell us they hear these noises too often around Woodcrest Road. But they want it to stop.

"I got tons and tons of little cousins and nephews. It worries the heck out of me," said Donald Horton.

Police do not have a description of the shooter at the moment and they didn't have a lot details to give at a Sunday afternoon news conference.

If you have any information on this shooting you can call Crimestoppers 1-866-845-TIPS.
