Shots fired into Southside apartment

No one hurt after 5 shots fired by gunmen

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Five shots were fired, three into an occupied apartment Monday night on the Southside, according to Jacksonville police.

No one was hurt in the apartment in the 1800 block of Kernan Boulevard North after the shots were fired just after 11 p.m.

According to a police report, an older model Nissan Sentra drove up and someone fired two shots from the car. Then two men got out of the car and fired three more shots into the apartment, according to police.

The car then sped off, police said.

They said a neighbor found a bullet hole in her car. Another said the hallway to an apartment was grazed by bullets.

"I think it was like two shots, two shots, like that," said Tony Geiger, who heard the shots fired. "It's kind of scary because I don't know if some innocent kids are going to get hurt, which is a bad thing."

Police spoke to several people in the apartment complex about what they heard. Police aren't saying if they have anymore details about the shooters.

Anyone with any information about the shots fired is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
