Speeding SUV crashes after sideswiping JTA bus

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police say an SUV was speeding south on Roosevelt Boulevard near Verona Avenue on Saturday afternoon when the vehicle side-swiped a city bus, left the road, went over the railroad tracks and landed in the woods.

Police said around 3:35 p.m. a blue Mercury SUV hit the Jacksonville Transportation Authority bus then lost control, went over the curb and train tracks and landed in the woods. 

Five people inside the SUV were taken to the hospital. Authorities said all of the injuries are non-life-threatening.  No one on the bus was injured.

Police did not provide the names or ages of those involved.
