Sunday shooting marks 3 deputy-involved shootings this year

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – There have been three Jacksonville Sheriff's Office-involved shootings this year.

Two weeks ago, JSO was investigating a home invasion on West 30th Street where two teens were inside. Their father and Officer Matthew Kreuger both arrived to the scene. A shootout began and the suspect, Samuel Boyd, 17, was hit in the shoulder.

It's still not clear if he was shot by the officer or the homeowner. The second suspect got away.

On March 19th, Sgt. J.C. Nobles spotted a stolen car with two armed people at 45th and Moncrief. The suspects tried to ram his cruiser and speed away. They crashed into a tree.

Both suspects got out with guns in their hands.

The suspects took off in different directions and Nobles followed 16-year-old Kendre Alston. Deputies said Alston briefly pointed his gun at Nobles; that's when Nobles shot and killed Alston.

The second suspect got away.

And Sunday, Officer Clifford Sames fired his Taser gun at 22-year-old Devante Jones before shooting and critically wounding him. Police said Jones was a domestic violence suspect who had several opportunities to comply.
